PTFE Lining ProcessFluoro Pacific provides PTFE-lined pipes to customer specifications. The process of manufacture involves a PTFE cylinder being heated, extruded (stretched) and inserted into a pipe. Most often, the PTFE tube is of a greater diameter than the pipe, and being a thermoset plastic, it will revert to its original size or as much as the metal pipe will allow when tension is released, thereby giving a tight, immovable fit. The additional PTFE rod length allowed at either end undergoes flaring with the PTFE heated and compressed against the face of the pipe flange. Metallic bolts then compress two flared edges to create a tight seal to increase pipe length or to other metal surfaces
